  • ontology engineering
  • translate OWL ontologies into F-Logic ontologies (i.e. reduce to OWL DLP)

• studies of computer science, philosophy, pedagogics; PhD in moral philosophy

currently spending part time (50%) sabbatical at DWS group

goals of sabbatical:

• learn ML / data science
• prepare practical (as opposed to theoretical) part of a master course in predictive analytics with Python
• find an approach how to integrate semantic background knowledge with ML:
  • the general Q is: How can we improve ML (here: ElasticNet model generation) by adding semantic background knowledge?
• side conditions:
  • *applied* science - both from a technical and a cognitive point of view
  • applicable in small and medium-sized enterprises (SME, de:KMU)

next steps:

• understand what people at DWS group are working on
  • get into contact, listen
  • be creative, get inspiration
• learn Pandas and scikit-learn
• understand in detail regularized regression, i.e. ridge, lasso, lars, ElasticNet
• hands-on: conduct a (rather small) project -> talk_2019-03-05_project
